My favorite flowers aren’t roses or daisies. They are “gladdy-nolas,” as my nephew Zhak calls them. They’re only available for a short time in July right around my birthday. When I saw them in the grocery store for just 99¢, I had to bring a bunch home with me. Sometimes the simplest—and the cheapest—things in life make me the happiest.
