Wikipedia, the ever-helpful internet source with answers to all the questions just niggling at your brain, indicated a Sunday drive is “an automobile trip typically taken for pleasure or leisure on a Sunday, usually in the afternoon. During the Sunday drive, there is typically no destination and no rush.” That’s exactly what we had in mind, but who said it has to actually take place on a Sunday? I’m a rule bender, after all.
You’ve probably already surmised that Mark and I are on an antiquing kick as of late. Armed with the Sunday Driver antique directory, this time we headed west out of Toledo to see what we could discover. Unfortunately, because the Independence Day holiday had fallen during the weekend this year and was being observed on Monday, many places were not open. But we still had fun meandering through the little towns of northwestern Ohio countryside.
An hour later we found the Field of Memories Antique Mall in Archbold, which is open every day except Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Success! With 65 vendors displaying their wares at great prices, it proved to be a good way to kill several hours before winding our way back home.
One of these days I’m going to have to do a post on some of the treasures we’ve been uncovering. Stay tuned; more to come!
